Valencia Hood-Humphrey, DrPH, MSc, BCPA

Dr. Valencia Humphrey holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Pre-Med) from Norfolk State University, Master of Science in Regulatory Affairs for Drugs, Biologics, and Medical Devices from Northeastern University, and a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree from Capella University. Dr. Humphrey has also completed the Regulatory Affairs Training Program at Duke University School of Medicine to enhance her expertise in drug development and stay updated on the evolving FDA requirements for drug approval. As a scholar-practitioner, Dr. Humphrey’s doctoral manuscript centered on the utilization of Evidence-Based Practice, as an intervention to improve organizational strategies for enhancing racial and ethnic minority representation in lupus, both cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), clinical trials, which is essential to ensure the safety and efficacy of investigational medicines in underrepresented populations.

As an Evidence-Based Practice facilitator-practitioner, Dr. Humphrey has honed her skills to assist clinicians and industry professionals in incorporating the best research evidence into clinical and industry practice, with the goal of enhancing population health. Dr. Humphrey is particularly interested in underserved populations and vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, pregnant women, and children. An avid breastfeeding advocate and breastfeeding counselor, Dr. Humphrey’s scholarly research has also delved into disparities in maternal and infant health. She is committed to promoting health and wellness by tackling modifiable risk factors, such as lifestyle changes and other non-pharmacological approaches.

Dr. Humphrey enjoys spending time with her husband and children. She also enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle, which includes mobility training, and powerlifting. Lastly, but foremost in her life, enjoys volunteering in her Christian Bible-based field ministry (Matthew 28:19-20).
